Mt. Ember is a dormant volcano on Knot Island (A.K.A One Island), Volcanion lives high atop this behemoth mountain, which was named for the embers that are visible at night due to the legendary pokemon.
Mt. Ember can be traversed as soon as the player has arrived to knot island, provided the required HMs (Surf/Strength/Rock Climb/Rock Smash) have been taught. After Surfing north of the Ember Spa, a Hiker will offer to give the player TM 84 Explosion to a compatible Pokémon.
Further up the hill, Rock Smash, Rock Climb and Strength allow access to a network of caves which lead to the legendary pokemon, Volcanion.
