Azalea Town

Azalea Town Map

Is a small, isolated town located on the southern peninsula of the Johto region. The town is best known for being the residence of Kurt, a custom Poké Ball creator who makes Poké Balls out of Apricorns. He lives in the northwest portion of town on the east edge of Ilex Forest. Azalea features other notable locations as well, such as the Slowpoke Well.The town has two entrances, Route 33 to the east and Ilex Forest to the west.

Pokémon Trainers must journey to Azalea Town in order to win the Hive Badge from Bugsy, the Azalea Gym Leader who specializes in Bug-type Pokémon.

Points of interest

Charcoal Kiln

Near the Gym is a small house that houses a Charcoal kiln. The kiln is owned by a family that handles not only the production of the Charcoal, but also the collection of the necessary materials. To acquire the wood necessary for the Charcoal, the family uses a Farfetch'd to Cut down trees in Ilex Forest.

Kurt's House

Kurt is a Poké Ball smith who lives in Azalea Town. In addition to making his own custom Balls out of Apricorns, he studies Poké Ball mechanics, and is known far and wide as a Poké Ball expert.

Azalea Gym

The Azalea Gym is the official Gym of Azalea Town. It is based on Bug-type Pokémon and the Gym Leader is Bugsy.

After Bugsy is defeated, he will give the player the Hive Badge and TM 49 "Fury Cutter".

Slowpoke Well

The population of Azalea Town is 23 (excluding the 5 Slowpokes.) This includes:

  • 3 People on the main map.
  • Kurt and his Grandaughter
  • 5 Gym Trainers and Bugsy
  • Gym Guy
  • The Charcoal Maker and his apprentice
  • 1 clerk and 1 shopper in the Pokemart
  • Nurse Joy, a clerk and 2 others in the Pokecenter
  • 2 guards and an old lady in the gate
