The Viridian Gym is the official Gym of Viridian City. It currently does not have a defined Pokémon type though it used to be based on Ground-type Pokémon. The Gym Leader is Blue. Trainers who defeat him receive the Earth Badge.

Details

Former Champion Blue took over the gym some time in the three years since it was revealed Giovanni was the Viridian Gym Leader. He is personally confirming the stability of the, now active, Cinnabar Island Volcano and will not return to the Gym until the Player presents him with the other seven Kanto Gym Badges. His gym is a straight shot to him with no other trainers or obstacles. He uses a mixed team of 6 Pokémon. After Blue is defeated, he will give the player the Earth Badge and the Technical Machine for TM 76 (Metronome).
