Hidden Grotto

Implemented in version 0.41 Hidden Grottos are hidden areas scattered around Johto each with a possibility to have rare items and pokemon inside it.

Finding a Grotto

The various entrances to hidden grottos.

There are currently 21 Grottos in various location around Johto. The entrance to each grotto is marked by a tree with a square on it. Locations containing Hidden Grottos:

Contents

Pokemon

In each grotto there are 4 possible pokemon, 2 from generations 1 and 2, and 2 from later generations.

There is a 40% chance that the contents of the grotto will be a pokemon. There is a 1/4096(x2) chance that the pokemon will be shiny. Many of the pokemon located in the grottos can only be found there.

Items

There is a 60% chance that the contents of the grotto will be an item. 50% of the items will be hidden items(items that are simply invisible but in the same spot as a regular item).

There are three visible items sets and two hidden item sets used for the Hidden Grottos based on the perceived difficulty of finding them.

Spawning =

Upon entering a Grotto for the first time the item or pokemon will be randomly decided. Entering and exiting the grotto will not change its contents.

After claiming the item or battling the pokemon in the grotto, it will be empty for atleast 24 hours but no more than 72(the amount is chosen at random) before the new pokemon or item will spawn.
